Hama Rikyu

Hama Rikyu is probably the best garden in the Tokyo area. It's surrounded on 3 sides by the waters of Tokyo Bay. It's only drawback is that there is a very busy expressway on the 4th side. The pictures above were taken in the mid-90s. Today, the skyline is dominated by the Shiodome office complex. Perhaps the only good to come out of this is that you can now get a good aerial view of Hama Rikyu from the Caretta Shiodome building.
