The Pacific Northwest
Mt. Rainier
Mt. Rainier National Park is of course centered about Mt. Rainier, which utterly
dominates the landscape. Hiking near the mountain is great, but so is exploring
the many small lakes in the area.
Mt. St. Helens
Mt. St. Helens used to look like Mt. Rainier, but then it exploded in 1980,
leveling the surrounding forest for miles around. Those are broken tree trunks
floating in the lake. It's an impressive display of the force of nature.
