MACHU PICCHU

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is remarkable because it was discovered largely intact by Hiram Bingham in 1911, overlooked by the Spanish conquerors.
It is far larger than any other ruins you are likely to visit in Peru. The climb to the top of Huayna Picchu, the prominant peak behind the village,
is strenuous but takes less than an hour each way. You just have to wake up early enough to be among the first 400 to sign up for the hike.
